V. The Wittower <persname>Georg Gross</persname>.
He was born <date>1688 the 25 of Jan</date>. at <placename>Swindrazheim</placename>
in <placename>Alsacia</placename>, where his Parents were Farmers. His good
Parents did all in their Power to give him a Christian
like Education, sent him to <sic>Shool</sic>  <corr>School</corr> & impressd
themselves in him the fundament of the protestant
Religion. By his first Communion, he was <sic>extreamly</sic>  <corr>extremely</corr>
touched in his Heart, but had no Power to resist
his Inclination & could not fulfill his <sic>Promiss</sic>  <corr>Promise</corr>;
The Fear for Gott however very often kept him back from
Sins. A<hi rend="superscript">o</hi>. <date>1705</date> he was put out as Apprentice to a 
<sic>Shumaker</sic>  <corr>Shoemaker</corr> & became Master himself A<hi rend="superscript">o</hi>. <date>1712</date>. In the

mean time he very often had Visits of Grace in his
Heart, especially by perusing evangelic <sic>Hyms</sic>  <corr>Hymns</corr>.
"But I didn't know (<sic>writs</sic>  <corr>writes</corr> he himself.) that our
Saviour came for me in this World & <sic>suffert</sic>  <corr>suffered</corr> & dy'd
for me. I never was contented & very often restless,
but it went over again."
A<hi rend="superscript">o</hi>. <date>1714</date> he settled himself at Ingwile & <sic>marryed</sic>  <corr>married</corr>
<persname>Mary Magdalen Shweigheimer</persname>. "We both (writes he)
were of one Mind to begin a little House-Church,
& frequented the Church on Sunday very exactly; we
both <sic>knowed</sic>  <corr>knew</corr> very well there is some thing wanting
& often tack'd together: that there must any where
in the World be such People as the <sic>Bibel</sic>  <corr>Bible</corr> describe
it, be where it will; & as we heard that <persname>M.</persname><hi rend="superscript"><persname>r</persname></hi><persname> Engelbach</persname>
& afterwards our <persname>B.</persname><hi rend="superscript"><persname>r</persname></hi><persname> Timoeus</persname> preach'd the Gospel in
<placename>Buxwiler</placename>, then we went thiter every Sunday, & so
was a Week contented again. At last we resolv'd
for the Sake of the Church & the fine <sic>Shool</sic>  <corr>School</corr> to move
from here & setlle in <placename>Buxwiler</placename>, which we effected
<date>1731</date>." His Marriage State was bless'd by our
Lord w.<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> 9 Children, Seven have departed their
Life before his coming to the Congregation
& his Son <persname>Hieronymus</persname> went home <date>1736</date> in the
Service of our Lord in <placename>England</placename>, from Son he survived
