In transcribing the above for circulation
we have not thought it right to omit the
narration of those mournful events,
which depict the degraded state of mind
to which our late Sr. had fallen; because
we know it was her wish by thus
faithfully exposing the depravity of
her heart, to magnify the power of
divine grace, and to extol the mercy
of her Saviour, who had reseved  reserved her
from such misery. This wish she
expressed to a friend at the commence-
ment of her last illness,adding,
"though I cannot believe the Lord
regrets rejects any one - but will have all
men to be saved; yet I now see
more clearly than ever before, that
there is an election of grace, and
most humbly acknowledge, that
I am a monument of his free choice.
For "had he not sought me first and
followed ever, I had not come to
him, nor known his favour."
