at his House and entertain'd them kindly, for he did not forget to
be Hospitable. In the year 1744 Count Zinzendorff passing thro Görliz
and stopping at this House, Br Marche had an opportunity of con-
versing with him, by which means the misunderstanding which had sub-
sisted came years between them, was intirely removed and he soon
after visited the Pilgrim Oeconomie at Gnadeck with his wife, and
then made a Visit to Herrnhuth, after an absence of 10 years.
it was just at Easter, and when he saw the number of Brn and
Sisters on the Burying Ground, and recollected how small
the Beginning was, he could not refrain shedding teras of Joy. In the year
1748 the 13th of November he was readmitted to the Holy Sacrament
with the Congn to his great Blessing. In the year 1750 he purchased
a dwelling House in Herrnhuth, as a Birth Day present for his
beloved Spouse. From that time forward they came to the Lords
Supper at Herrnhuth as often as they could, till the year 1763
when he gave up his Busness at Görliz, that he might here
spend the remainder of his Days in Peace. The chief magestrate
at Görliz was very unwilling to let him leave the place, yet
dismissed him with the greatest respect. Here in Herrnhuth
he spent the last 5 years of his Life cheerful and happy in con-
verse with our Saviour and the enjoyment of the Congn grace,
and was use dto take care of such strangers as cam here to
Visit. he was of a heart constitution and continued very
cheerful and lively notwithstanding his advanced age. Since
last April his strength decay'd Visibly, yet he continued to frequent the meetings, and said I know not how long I may have
the enjoyment of the Meetings, I shall hardly be here on my
next Birthday. The 8th of October he partook the Lords
Supper with the Congn and the 17th took to his Bed. He con
-tinued perfectly in his senses, notwithstanding his weakness, was
tender and affectionate to every one, and felt no pain. Many
sweet Liturgies was held round his Bed, and he express'd him
-self very thankful for all the Blessings which he enjoy'd in
the Congn and his Choir as a Poor Sinner, who was redeem'd
thro grace, and the nearer his departure seem'd, the more
Visible was the happiness of his sol and the nearness of
his

his Friend. He cheerfully look'd forward to the Hour of his Departure into
the Joy of his Lord, who according to the Text on the Day of his
Perfection: graciously sen'd unto him, As once to Magdalene (see the watchword 21 October)
rejoicing that he should soon Kiss the Precious wounds for all
He had done for his Soul. The 21st of October he receiv'd the
last Blessing to his departure; and took of his Cap with his own
Hands, Br John Nitschman who gave him the last Blessing
testify'd: that his heart felt very happy during this Trasaction
and that it made a particular Impression on him, when he
imparted the Blessing of the Congn and his choir to this Beginner
of Herrnhuth. He pourd out his Heart in Prayer, and returned
our Saviour thanks, that he had noted this Brothers Faithfulness
towards the first exiles in his Book; for he was unwearied
in serving them, and did not rest till they were provided with a
Dwelling; and had given him such a happy Sabbath among
his People, whom he purchased by his Death and Blood shed-
ding and gatherd here, under his Protection; this Thanks
giving was concluded with the New Testament Blessing. At
8 OClock in the evening, He fell asleep during a sweet Liturgy
which the Brn sung around his Bed and a particular Blessed
feeling of our dr. Lords near Presence He was the oldest Br
in the Married Choir, being 74 years of age, wanting 4 weeks.
If we consider that our dear Br receiv'd the first impression of this
place, which was regarded as the poorest Field belonging to
Berthelsdorff, and for a length of time had been mark'd in the map
of the estates, as a useless piece of Land, we may truly say he
was an Instrument, which our Saviour rais'd up to promote the
Building of Herrnhuth. It is true he, nor no one else, could think
that out of this nothing such a considerable thing should proceed,
and that place which was only intended as a retreat for some few
souls, and for the excersive of godliness among the Inhabbitants
schould so increase that from hence the sound of the gospel
should spread itself abroad in the world. Our dear Brother often
rejoiced with with a thankful Heart that he himself lived to see
and enjoy such an Increase of gosple grace and the spreading
of

Register.
