Congregation Accounts 1764
Memoirs of the Life of dear and Respected Sister
Helena Dorothea de Tiesenhausen
She was born the 7th of March 1695 in the City of Narva in Livonia.
Her Father was Major Gustavus de Burghausen and her Mother
Dorothea de Brundert, the both went out of Time 1734. She has left
the following account her of her path course thro this Life: "Our dear Savr
has protected preserved me from my tenderest Infancy in a Peculiar Maner,
and most graciously Delivered me out of many Dangers, Particularly
In the Wars of that Time in the year 1700, Narva was besieg'd by the
Rusians and as we were 20 Weeks log'ed in a cellar on account
of the Bombarding, a Bomb forc'd its way thro a Casement
so that the Glass stuck in my Face, and I lay several Hours
In faintly Fitts. In the year 1704 Narvo was a second time besieg'd
for the Rusians, and after a seige of 16 Weeks taken by them,
many Poeple around me were kill'd and had not the Czar
himself came, my Mama and I and all our Family would have
met with the same Fate. At the Czars command we were brought
to the Market Place, and palced under the Standard, other 9
hours standing there, we were brought to the council house,
were we continued 3 days without haveing any thing to eat,
and had no Water to drunk but what was coulour'd with the
Blood of the slain. A Rusian Prince had my sister and
me stole away 3 times, but the Centinel who was an honest
Man, allways brought us back again to our Mamma, who
then hid us as well as she could, yet in the end my sister
was taken away, and it was 14 years before she return'd to her
Mamma. After 3 Days plundering we return'd again to our
empty Houses. In the Year 1707 we were all sent Prisoners
to

Register.
