Kingswood & Bath
the 20th of March departed this Life, our
dear Sister Ester Goodburn
She was born in Hambrook in the Parish of Winterburn
1709 the 27th of July. With her first Husband John Love
some year without having Children. In the great awakening
for 20 Years past in this Country She was in a Preaching
of Br Cennick convinced & the Grace of Christ touched her
Heart. She offered her House to Br Cennick for a Preaching
Place to his Residence. By Departing betwen Mr Wesle
& Cennicks She kept to the last & nothing could hinder her to
follow his Doctrine. Her first Husband was not in her
Way at all & she had the Pleasure to see him depart this Life
in a full Confidence of the Reconciliation of his Savr.
Christ Jesus. Nine years ago she was marryed to her
present Widower; & as the Society was errected at
Bristol our blessed Sister beame a Member thereof, &
1755 the 6th of April She was received as a Member of
the Congregation, but as She saw some sooner admitted to
the holy Sacrament, who came latter than she, becamse
she perplext & thoughtful in the Beginning, but found
at last that it was to her best & gave her a opportunity
to know

to know herself the much better. The 26th of January
1759. She became her Portion in a rish Measure by
Partaking on our Lords Supper & her Heart was keeping
comforted. In her following Time She amused herself in a
childlike manner in the Conversation with the Man of
Smart, & it was her greatest Delight when she could
hear of his Death and Sufferings. Howsoever She lived
4. Miles from hence; she came certainly every Sunday
hither, let the West be as it was. Amongst her Neighbour-
hood, had She a good Name & every body took her for
a child of God; but since a year ago she begun to
pine for her eternal Home & especially when she was
talk'd to before the holy Communion. the 20th of Febr
She was the last Time here at the Lords Supper with
us. the 12th of March a very hard Fever sized upon
her, whereby She directly fortold that our Savr would
certainly take her home. the 18th Br and Sister
Miller came to visit her & found her chearfull
& extraordinary happy. After she had her Husband
& little Daughter once more recommended, to the
Care of the Congregation, her sincere Wish was
that our Saviour now would soon come & take
her home, because her Heart pined after him;
which our Saviour graciously granted to her
the very day, in her 54th year of Age.
