Time very attentive hearers without Contradiction
of my Witness from the Lamb and his Wounds, & the
Grace in his Blood. When the Pope (a Russian Minister)
came to keep the Lord Supper with the Prisoners
I was Clerk* and provided that what belong'd to it
& when it was over, I repeated to them the pretty Exhorta
tions with which this indeed pious Pope shew'd the poor
Prisoners to Jesus, but ah! how did I feel when I saw un
expected in the Month of September 1747m just I as stood out of the
Doors by the Guarde that my dear Father Krugelstein
was carried in the Cantsey and brought back again
we was gone all onone Day from Brinkenhoff he
to a sick Person, after we had a short time Together
with them four Brethren who was released out of the
Imprisonment of Petersbourgh, and on this journey
he was taken Prisoner & brought here before me
Our dear Saviour had enough to do to comfort me
because I know'd that my Letter had been the Occasion
to it but after a long and great smart he chear'd me with
that, our Imprisonment to his Time would turn out
for the Best of the Kingdom of Jesus, while he out
of his wise war had chosen to the same Suffrings this Brother, who,
had a weighty Office in the Congregation and was call'd
to be a Messenger of the Lord in the Eastern Part, and by
that had made it to a right Congregation matter.
I became hopes that he himself to the right Time would
justify us & make it clear also to our Brn & Srs in
the Congregation that our Imprisonment was intended
for the Blessing - Comfort & Benefit of many souls

That dear Heart Krugelstein had not heard that
I was here too, before the Year 1750. I receiv'd in the
mean Time very often grievous Accounts as well
of his poor & weakly Constitution of Health as also
of the Distress & misery of the two other Fellow Pri
soners our daer Hearts Fulsteff and Hollehoff and
it was impossible for me to find out a way to go &
see them, much less to assist them with some Thing.
I was brought in the Month November 1747 with my
Fellow-Prisonners in a more pleasant arch'd Prison
which laid a great Way of from the Evenlgen, where
I often could enjoy at the Door the fresh Aiar and
where I could have an Opportunity to get acqainted
to converse & to discourse with the next Door Prisoners
to their blessing. It gave me a good opportunity to exer
cise my more in the Russian Language, and to get
an Insight in the old and new History of the Russian.
I begun also to spin Wool with the Spindle, and to knit
stockings privately, so well for me as my imprison'd
Brethrn & others, and at the same Time to teach
my Fellow Prisoners. It was indeed a Labour, who
was to be done very cautiously, for not t bring the
Guarde in trouble (**) our dear Saviour hid it always
too, that no body, who could have hurted us, may find
it out, and so the year 1748 happily past, tho' with inter
mix'd heavy Hours, & good deal hand Labour. After
