The son Rector of this School was the famous
Volgeroths Son, an Hallenser, who us'd to keep
Mebling forthe edification, and as he once
spoke on the Words: his Name is a preci
ous Ointment, and painted our dear Savrs
so beautiful that almost half of his Scholars
was stirr'd up, and at the same Time struck
as Lightning in our departed brs Heart, &
melted him so that he began to examine
himself & thought: I am a cursed Creature,
that I have liv'd so long in the World & not
thought upon so dear a Saviour much less
lov'd him. Out of this Awakening are
our Brn Shurman, Shlicht, the two Wredows,
Michael Oldendorff, who came to the Congregation
this Awakening did not go very deep but
he continued in ups & downs.
In this Situation he came to Jena here he
soon got acquainted with Magister Brum
hard our Brn Petrus & another awaken'd
Students with whom he kept which was a
& Yorkshire as well as German to those
Souls hungry after the Gospel with great
Blessings till the year forty four he went
to Herrndyk & on the 19th of July was mar
ried to his Wife Susannah alias Sarah
born Stockbergin by our dear Br Joseph
and for this End that he might bring over
a company of Br & Sr to America &
came to Bethlehem the 9th of November
the same year. In the year forty five
in Febr in Bethlehem he was ordained
and afterwards was sent into the Jerseys
to his Country People the Swedes, among whom
he preach'd the Gospel and visisted, but on Ac
count of suckness were oblig'd to return
to Bethlehem. On the 12th of Novr the
same year, they went to Nazareth he was
ordinary of the Congregation and thaught
the Children in the Oeconomy untill May
47 from there till Febr forty nine
he was with his Wife in Philadelphia
