A short Account of the Life of Sister Payne
Elizabeth Dacis (alias Payne) was born July 14 1703 at
Beaumaris in the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales, was
brought up in the Profession of the English Church. And coming
to live in London in the same House where B Jasper Payne
also lived they became acquainted together and were married in
Feb 4 1731. they had 2 Children in their marriage who both died young When the Awakening began in England, she
frequently went o hear Mr. Whitefield and the Westleys
and by means of her Husband became acquainted with
the Brethren about the Year 1739. In the year 42 Br
Payne had a call from our Savr and his People to go to the
Children's Nursery at Lambs Inn, but our now dear deceased
Sister was then sore against going and leaving her shop and
Business, but Br Payne referring the Matter to our dear
Savr to make a way for Him to pursue the Call He had given
him, our Sav so turned her HEart, that in a very short Time
she was not only made willing to go and forsake all, but
was so urgent upon it, that she came to Lambs Inn two
weeks before Br Payne was ready to go: at which Place
they staid about a year and a half, here she had the Grace
to partake of the Holy Sacrament of our Savrs Body and
Blood the first Time in the Brethren's Congregation
