Our dear Mor Maddy was born at St. Neots in Huntingtonshire
June the 30th 1664, was educated in the Church of England.
Came to Bedford very young; & the first remarkable circums
stance of her Life to be particularly is, that she heard that great
& famous Serv of God John Bunyan preach.
She was married at the Age of 16, & liv'd wth her Husband
in great love & tenderness 57 years, & had by him 4 sons and 6
daughters, the 8th of wth only sirvives her & is with us. She had 11 or
more grandchildren & 3 great grand children.
She became acquainted with our Brn after the year 43 & came
to live in Mor. Okely's House in the year 44, which was look'd upon by
her as a particular Favour & Priviledge, as having hereby such
a daily opportunity of hearing and conversing wth the Brn
After having several Times petitioned to be rec'd into y
Cong, her Request was granted to her Feb 18 1745 & she was ad
mitted the first time to d Lord Supper June 2 45 wh was al

ways a particular Cordial to her Heart. & tis to be observ'd

that on Good Friday last she rec'd it y last Time wth a very happy
& thankful Heart, having greatly desired to be partaker of it
once more before her going Home. We have often observed since she
has been acquainted with us, that she has been astonished at her Election
of Grace, & our Savr brought her to a knowledge of Himself in her
old Age; & she continually grew more & more intimate wth him, & be

came a happy sidehole little Heart, & was indeed very much belov'd

by us. That choice verse lovely sidehole & was her favourite verse
& the only one she could remember to sing: the last words, soul, &
body in thee pass; she sung in her last sickness with a particular
emphasis; at last when she grew so weak, she only sung it with the
motion of her lips. She often delcared to the Brn and Sist yt visited
her a great Love to them, & comforted herself wth y assumed Ex:

pectation of meeting them again in t dearest Sidehole: & she

continued in this happy situation of Heart till May t 25th be:
twixt 7 & 8 in y morning, when her soul sweetly & softly took
Flight into y beloved Pleura, in y 86th year of her age;
& her Tabernacle was brought to Rest y 27th to her Husband
& Children in St Pauls Church; whither our Brn and Srs
accompanied her.
