I was born <date>July 2nd 1820</date> at <placename>Mapperley</placename> --
a small village in <placename>Derbyshire</placename> <gap></gap> My dear
Mother being a decided child of God
endeavoured to bring her children up
in the nurture and admonition of the
Lord; and I do not rember remember the
time when my thoughts were not het to wont to
dwell upon serious things; but alas they
were too much of a reasoning <add>sceptical</add> nature. <gap></gap>
Very little took place during my childhood
that is worthy of recording. I had the privilege
of attending a small School, that was kept
by the daughters of a most worthy and
excellent <sic>Independant</sic> Minister, whose
loving and affectionate manner will ever
be sweet to my memory. <gap></gap> I attended their
School untill I was in my 14th Year <gap></gap>
when my dear Mother placed me in the
Srs <add>Sisters</add> House at <placename>Ockbrook</placename>. <gap></gap>where, after a
few weeks I became exceedingly happy
and comfortable <gap></gap> the life of a <add>Srs</add> <add>Sisters </add>House
House being well adapted to my natural

Register.
